Fourth Street Live! honored Muhammad Ali with the second annual "A Kid, A Cop, and A Cause" event on Sunday, June 10, 2018. With the help of dozens of first responders, over 100 local foster kids built and took home their very own bicycles.
During the event, dozens of police officers, EMTs, and firefighters helped foster children assemble their new bikes and navigate a "test drive" course at Fourth Street Live!. We are proud to have presented 125 bikes this year and hope to donate more each year the event continues.
It’s all part of the Week of Giving, a project by the I Am Ali Festival sponsored by Fourth Street Live!, and coordinated by Together We Rise, a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the way youth navigate through the foster care system in America.
Together We Rise, which coordinates Build-A-Bike programs throughout the country, was created to improve the lives of foster children. Throughout the U.S., the organization provides items including skateboards, suitcases and supplies for college to foster children. It estimates that 1,200 kids per day enter foster care.
